Adam Resurrected

Adam Resurrected
Adam Resurrected (2008)

IMDB rating: 6.60

Plot: “Adam Resurrected” follows the story of Adam Stein, a charismatic patient at a mental institution for Holocaust survivors in Israel, 1961. He reads minds and confounds his doctors, lead by Nathan Gross. Before the war, in Berlin, Adam was an entertainer—cabaret impresario, circus owner, magician, musician—loved by audiences and Nazis alike until he finds himself in a concentration camp, confronted by Commandant Klein. Adam survives the camp by becoming the Commandant’s “dog”, entertaining him while his wife and daughter are sent off to die. Years later we find him at the Institute. One day, Adam smells something, hears a sound. “Who brought a dog in here?” he asks Gross. Gross denies there is a dog but Adam finds him—a young boy raised in a basement on a chain. Adam and the boy see and recognize each other as dogs—and their journey begins. “Adam Resurrected” is the story of a man who once was a dog who meets a dog who once was a boy.

What's the big deal on not wanting to die?
For Christians the fact that we die should not be an issue but it is. If we die and go to Heaven if we believe in Jesus Christ, then what’s the problem with dying? Isn’t it our goal to get to Heaven?

I ask this as there is a question right now about Witnesses using blood and we would rather die than take it into our bodies which is Scriptural.

I may be answering my own question but the fact is this: God instilled in us the will to live. Remember that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and where did he raise him to, Earth. Jesus also said to not marvel at this for the day will come when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. So, all that have died will come out, that is in the future tense, not the past tense. All that have died are just plain dead.

Oh, by the way, where was Jesus resurrected to? Earth. Not Heaven, went there afterwords though. Man stays on Earth for the new life. Also remember that Adam was not to die at all but sinned and he died cause he sinned. It was not Jehovah’s plan for man to die.
apeman60, then if you die young according to most Christian religions, you will be in Heaven which is where most believe they will be.
Snowflake, in the Book of Rev. it tells us about the new earth after Armageddon, not dying and going elsewhere.
Mypreshu… where does it say that in the Bible?

Jehovah God created us [humans] with eternity in our hearts.
Even after Adam and Eve sinned, and passed on death and dying to all their offspring, we humans never could accept death because it’s unnatural…it’s not normal!
And to this day, we will fight and hold onto every bit of breath that we have, even though we know that if we should die, that Jehovah will remember us in the resurrection.

Being human, it is deeply embedded in your genetic code to preserve your life. It makes you look both ways before crossing the street. If you do not have a healthy fear of death, you will die young.
apeman605 | Aug 31, 2009

But Adam and Eve’s ‘Earth’ was not our Earth. Ours is a shadow of it. And to achieve the kind of life where death isn’t possible, we have to leave this one…we do it by dying.

I’m not worried about that at all. In a way I find it quite exciting and can’t wait to find out what’s next!

Okay, this question is obviously directed at the Christians. You should have said so.

As for the big deal on not wanting to die…some are just not ready to let go yet. In those cases, they will indeed return to the physical plane. Those who are ready, will move on to the next plane of existence.

Well to the one who answered first. You didnt read it correctly!
She was not promoting death to get to heaven.
Saying why want to die! To get to heaven?
JWs want to live. Even have hospital Liaisons to get best
treatment for us!
Taking blood which is the soul of another - Genesis 9: 4.
Leviticus 17: 11&14 - Is a Sin against God. So long term
you would loose out on life! Eternal life that is!
Man was created to live forever on the earth not in heaven.
Until Adam lost us that gift.
And JWs are Christians - even more so than others
claim to be.

Because death is not normal. If death was normal, it wouldn’t hurt us so much when a loved one dies. Just about everywhere you look you see advertisements for plastic surgery to make one look younger, supplements to help you live longer. Does it sound like people want to die?

Adam and Eve were not meant to die. They had everlasting life in a paradise on earth. They had this until they disobeyed God. They lost that gift. We have the chance to live forever on earth after Armageddon, if we stay close and obey Jehovah God.

Paths of Glory

Paths of Glory
Paths of Glory (1957)

IMDB rating: 8.60

Plot: In Stanley Kubrick’s “Paths of Glory” war is viewed in terms of power. This mesmerizing, urgent film about a true episode in World War I combines the idea that class differences are more important than national differences with the cannon-fodder theory of war, the theory that soldiers are merely pawns in the hands of generals who play at war is if it were a game of chess. The result of this amazing film has been the emergence of one of the great talents in contemporary cinema, the master whose greatest work was yet to come.

How did Kubrick made the tracking shots in "Paths Of Glory" without the dolly inside shot and no SteadyCam?
Because the dolly can’t be seen inside the shot in the movie, and there was no digital retouching… and no SteadyCam was invented yet. Still the shot is very still and perfect.

Good question. I don’t know what Kubrick did there but it’s common to run a track out of sight and put the camera on a boom or crane. For the trench shot, for example, you could put a track along the top of the trench and suspend the camera down into the trench.

What does it mean to have a voice?
In my 11th grade English class we’re watching Hotel Rwanda and I need to write a paper on what it means to have a voice… Any suggestions on where to begin?

This is worded wrong. To have a voice simply means you can speak

What I’m thinking you are meaning is to have the voice to speak out. Hotel Rwanda is a about a man who holds off some axe serial killer people from killing members of an ethnic group if I am thinking of the right movie and event
This means to have the courage and daring to say what needs to be said no matter the consequences

To have influence over people or events. When you say something, not only do people listen, but they want to know what you have to say.
vj288 | Nov 02, 2009

a voice….is to speak
what your talking about is to influence people…and in Hotel Rwanda the main character tries to influence people to hide the Tutsi’s from the Hutu’s who are trying to kill their fellow countrymen and women because they are favored by the Europeans (because they are light skinned)
afroqueenie | Nov 02, 2009

This is a question with two answers. I will list each one.

1. To have a voice is the ability to speak
2. To have a voice is to have a say in something, to have the ability to say something about something, to have an opinion, to have a thought. Basically to have any sort of thought you automatically have a voice on whatever you just had a thought on.

it means to be outspoken-to share your opinion-to speak out especially when it is necessary.

debate..help me please……?
ok..my topic is genetically modified crops..a boon or bane..
i m against GM crops..so..if u can say me few points about it…it would be nice..
i do have few points with me right now..like..
*
Most food manufacturers are unable or unwilling to provide information on whether or not their products contain Genetically Modified ingredients
*
Genetically Modified Crops can contaminate other crops simply by pollen being blown by wind from one field to another.
*
World starvation has more to do with wealth distribution rather than the inadequate production of foods.
*
Sometimes genetically modified crops have allergenic effects.
*
New viruses could evolve from the mass production of GM crops.
*
The more that gene technology is used, the worse the environment will become.
*
Pests may develop resistance to GM crops that have been designed to kill them.
*
GM crops produce religious complications.
*
GM crops may produce ecological side effects (Monarch butterflies).

thanks..
*Crops could be grown in areas suffering from drought and salt.
* Many people rely on genetically modified foods for medicines, e.g.,insulin for diabetics.

do u have anything to argue against these 2 points..
