So I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank and I was going to plant it. This will be one of my higher maintainance ones so that is why I was seeking your help.
To start off here are the parameters and tank specifications:
Temp: 77F
PH: 6.7
Lighting: 2x 65 Watt hagen lifeglo compact fluorescent bulbs (8 1/2 hours)
1x 28 Watt Aqualight (9 hours)
Substrate: Aquariumplants.com complete substrate
Water changes: 15 gallons per week
Filter: Marineland C220 canister filter (225 gph)
CO2: 1bp5s (one bubble per five seconds) Half a cap of Flourish Excel per week.
Nitrate: 4 ppm
Nitrite: 0
Ammonia: 0
Ferts: Trace elements added weekly, iron added weekly, root tabs every other month.

This actually sounds great..
my 2 cents is, go to 50% watter changes.
This will be much more effective.
This will also replace the Trace elements weekly.
You can then add the Flourish Fertilizer instead of the Trace.
Also, with the CO2 you really don’t need the Excel.
I have used this in the past and it actually made my water cloudy.
